The Editing of the Photos

Photography Second Shoot

For our second shoot we introduced the character Michael who will have the main focus of the movie. We decided to separate them in interest of foreshadowing the future conflict that is to errupt between them. the presence of the scissors is the key to their conflict creating a sense of imminent danger and it is also part of the iconography of the thriller genre.

Photography First Shoot

These photographs are all different variations of what we wanted to protray in our posters of our protagonist Jessica. We used a plain white background to keep the image as clean as possible and it would also save us from complications if we were to use photoshop. We decided to go with a naturalistic light set up but with a hint of moodiness, this relates to making the thriller genre more plausible but still giving its deserved melancholic conventions. We then moved on to a warmer light with more pronounced shadows which we thought enhanced its dynamic and theatrical aspects. We also explored a number of ways the prop of the scissors could be used, first trying a very exposed look and then moving towards a more subtler and covert picture. There are two images present where we decided to play with colour. We thought the colours green and red would work best with our genre and its conventions.
